Copies of birth certificates are provided for persons born in the Town of Amherst, not the Village of Williamsville. Births taking place in an Amherst home or Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital are filed in the Amherst Town Clerk's Office. Copies of Birth Certificates are provided for persons over 18 years of age. A parent or guardian must request a copy of a minor's birth certificate. Proof of identification is required. The most commonly accepted form of identification is a valid drivers license. A certified copy is $10.00.

Copies of birth certificates for genealogical purposes are available if the birth occurred 75 years ago, unless the applicant is a lineal descendent or has been designated to act on behalf of a lineal descendant.
