
On behalf of all concerned adults and youth, the Amherst Task Force yearly communicates with limousine operators, hotel/motel owners and managers. We ask them to follow guidelines, which would protect our young people during prom and graduation celebrations.
Guidelines for Limousine Companies
- All drivers’ backgrounds and driving records are checked.
- Only the most responsible and safest adults should be driving our children.
- Have commercial or livery insurance.
Under a contract the following is needed:
- The prohibition of alcoholic beverages. If any alcohol is brought into the Limousine, it should result in the immediate termination of the contract.
- Only pull tab, non-alcoholic cans are allowed.
- All large bags, purses, and coolers are placed in the trunk. If anyone needs to get them during the course of the evening, the chauffeur should be present while the trunk is opened.
- At the time of the reservation, pick up times and location must be supplied. Any changes must be in writing up to 2 days before the prom and agreed upon by both parties.
- At no time will the limousine be driven around with no destination.
- Those under the age of 18 must to have a parent or guardian sign the contract.
- Drive our children in vehicles which comply with Federal Safety Standards and the Department of Transportation in regards to size.
- The privacy window is not in use in order to protect our young people from unwanted advances and behavior.
Guidelines for Hotels and Motels
Discourage the rental of rooms for the purpose of gathering of young people who wish to party. The use of alcohol and other drugs are common at these gatherings. Many times, situations may arise which are unsafe, unhealthy and illegal when alcohol is present.
