Hazardous Waste
Oil based paint, chemicals, flammable liquids, and other household hazardous waste should be taken to a drop-off site designated by the Erie County Department of Environment and Planning. For information, please call (716) 998-8073.
The Northwest Solid Waste Board has recommended Hazman as an option to dispose of Household Hazardous Waste. It is a year round option, however there is a cost for this service.

Yard Waste Schedule & Policies - Program Starts April 1
The Town of Amherst’s annual yard waste collection program will begin on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Homeowners are encouraged to properly dispose of yard waste to allow it to be composted, thus reducing landfill waste and cost.
