Amherst Senior Support Network

Amherst Senior Support Network strives to support persons aged 50 and older, their families, and caregivers.

Who We Are

Amherst Senior Support Network is a group of staff at the Amherst Center for Senior Services who provide information and referrals for programs and services to adults who are 50 years and older.

Assistance Provided
  • Community Services-The Senior Support Network staff can provide you with information and application assistance for home-delivered meal programs, transportation services, home care, social adult day programs, personal emergency response buttons, and caregiver services.
  • Assistance With Applications for Government Programs-The Senior Support Network staff can assist with the completion of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), Medicare Savings Program (MSP), Elderly Pharmaceutical Insurance Coverage (EPIC), and other government programs.
  • Information and Referral-The Senior Support Network can assist you with finding community resources, support groups, housing options, accessibility home improvement programs, and health insurance.
  • Senior Center on the Move - The Senior Support Network conducts community outreach, visiting senior living campuses to share information about the Amherst Center for Senior Services.
  • Program Fee Waivers: The Senior Support Network can assist with applications to have your fees waived for some programs offered at the Amherst Center for Senior Services.
  • Accessible Parking Tags: If you need assistance with an application, our Senior Support Network is available by appointment only.
  • Temporary Food Assistance Program: If you or someone you know needs non-perishable food items and toiletries, we offer on-site assistance.
  • Frozen Meal Program Application Assistance: If you are an older adult or caregiver and find it difficult to prepare meals, this Erie County Program may be just what you need. Registration forms are available at the Center's Reception Desk. Our Senior Support Network can assist you through the process of applying for this program.
  • Our Senior Support Network facilitates eight (8) support groups. Learn more about those groups in the Amherst Center for Senior Services Senior Connections Guide.
  • Scheduling certain programs: The Senior Support Network schedules space for health insurance support agencies to offer appointments, and schedules financial and health-related presentations at the Amherst Center for Senior Services.
