Mission Statement

The Amherst Conservation Advisory Council provides advice to the Amherst Town Board and Planning Board regarding land use concerns such as environmental, open space and conservation issues. It is responsible, with the assistance of the Town Planning Department, for creating and maintaining the Open space Index, including a map showing all open space, public or private, within the Town. The ACAC also may comment on environmental quality and conservation issues related to rezoning and development proposals submitted for Town approval. The council meets monthly in public session.
