Director of Information Technology and Records Management (Full Time)

Department of Information Technology

The Town of Amherst, NY is seeking an experienced professional responsible for the oversight and management of the Town’s Department of Information Technology.


Description of Duties

The Director oversees information technology (IT) staff, IT functions and systems operations as well as delivery of IT services to multiple department end-users, and works collaboratively with staff to install, maintain, and support computer systems and communications networks; ensuring systems and networks operate optimally to provide maximum performance and availability to end users. The incumbent plans and manages large, complex Town-wide and multi-department IT environment initiatives. Works collaboratively with departments to coordinate systems, provide performance management, system planning, system implementation, and ensures the success of systems, and determines appropriate priority for pending requests for IT systems. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Town Supervisor/Town Board, and supervision is exercised over a number of unionized administrative and technical personnel. 

Qualifications

Requires through knowledge of various operating systems, security access, operations security, and database services, application, data protection, and security risks; thorough knowledge and understanding of enterprise, network, endpoint systems, application, data protection and security risks; thorough knowledge of information technolgoy operations specific to end-user device support, field services, and technical support; thorough knowledge of systems administration; thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, techniques and equipment associated with information technology service management; as well as good knowledge of budgeting principles and practices as applicable to an information technology operation.
The ideal candidate will possess a master's degree in computer science, information systems, public administration or business administration with an IT focus, or related field, with two (2) years of progressively responsible experience including advanced network systems along with two (2) years' experience in supervision; or possession of a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, public administration or business administration with an IT focus, or related field, with four (4) years progressively responsible experience including advanced network systems along with two (2) years' experience in supervison. 
Amherst residency may be required. 

Rate of Pay

$96,441.15 to $133,618.24. Excellent compensation and benefits package available.
