Documentary Review - "Crip Camp"
The Amherst Town Committee on Disabilities discussed the movie "Crip Camp". This movie is on Netflix. It is 1 hour and 48 minutes. “Crip Camp” won an award at the Sundance Film Festival. It is a documentary. The movie is partly about Camp Jened, a camp for people with disabilities, and partly about advocacy work that people with disabilities have done. Camp Jened was a camp in Hunter, NY, at the foot of the Catskills. It opened in 1951 and closed in 1977. It re-opened in Rock Hill, NY, in 1980 and closed in 2009. People with disabilities are interviewed throughout this movie.
