Family Offenses / Domestic Violence

To deal with the victims of domestic violence, the Amherst Police developed the Family Offense Squad (FOS). Recognizing the fact that violence within the home is no less unlawful than similar conduct occurring outside of the family setting, we were one of the first departments in Western New York to adopt a “Pro-Arrest” policy in response to such crimes. The two officers are assigned to this unit on a full-time basis. You can contact the FOS Unit by calling (716) 689-1311.
