2024 Assessment Equity Project

The town has begun working on an Assessment Equity Project for 2024. This project will insure everyone is paying their fair share of the tax levy. It’s important to remember a project does not raise tax dollars and the Assessor’s Office does not set the budget. We simply make sure the tax burden is divided fairly among the tax payers. Doing a project will bring everyone to 100% of their market value, which creates equity. A raise in assessment does not automatically mean a raise in your taxes, in fact some may see a decrease in their total taxes.

Change of Assessment notices for 2024 will go out in the spring of 2024. There will be an opportunity for an Informal Review and then Grievance at the end of May 2024. More information will be available as we get closer to these dates.

If you have questions about this project, please don’t hesitate to give our office a call at 716-631-7038
