South Campus Intermunicipal Planning Framework

The Town of Amherst, together with the City of Buffalo, Town of Tonawanda and University at Buffalo, engaged in the development of an initial planning framework to identify opportunities for place-based collaboration in the neighborhoods surrounding the South Campus. The framework, prepared by the University at Buffalo Regional Institute, links together current municipal and university plans with surrounding neighborhood projects and aspirations to outline possible ideas for collaboration across municipal lines. Intended as an initial starting point to catalyze planning and action for future community engagement in one concise document, the University and Municipal partners understand that the framework is a first step to cultivating a true cross border neighborhood revitalization for the South Campus area.

Amherst and its partners intend to further explore the projects identified in this report, and others that can advance the revitalization of this area.
